Owner's Description
So technically I used the good quote on the sketch variant but here's one.
"What was that? The entire system's been fried," That--May just have been the rebirth of Hope"
--Beast & Professor X.
The first issue of the X-Men Messiah Complex kicks off with a bang.
The X-Men have been notified by the Professor, monitoring what's left of the Mutant population, that Cerebra has just been blown to hell and it was all because of the birth of a mutant. At this first moment the use of forshadowing is pretty heavy in the naming of the child before its even found or identified.
So anyways the X-Men kick off to Alaska to find the child and come upon a city torn apart by battle. The Purifiers have gone through the city and begun to kill all of the children in an attempt to wipe out this child, and the Maruders while a little late to the party have come in search of the child for Mr. Sinister as well.
The X-Men who were completely late only find this out using Emma Frost and also identify a few of the heavy hitters from the Maruaders dead as well but by an unknown cause.
The ending is a little twisted for Marvel as it does refer to two new borns not just being killed but burned to death and cuts to a new card on the table in Predator X. A mutant hunting machine/animal that was made to hunt mutants and adapts and gets stronger the more it consumes.
My Opinion:
So yeah this one kicks off with a lot of information being tossed out at once. Shows most of the cards of who is hunting who and why. Additionally the new Mutant Birth is extremely significant if you have followed the events of M Day and the general extinction of all but a select few mutants.
Huge fan of this cover as it is a sketch variant and as soon as I get a chance i'll post it up.
