Story Title: Shadowman
Summary:
Emmanuel DaCosta, Bobby's father, and Selene, a potential Black Queen, are initiated into the Hellfire Club. Sebastian Shaw is happy with Emmanuel and hopes Bobby won't be far behind.
But he is less happy with Selene. In his mind, she has far too much ambition and is probably shooting to eventually take over leadership of the Club.
In a bar in Salem City New York, Peter (Colossus) is playing chess with the owner late at night when the waitress tells them that Bobby is at the bar and acting very strangely.
When Colossus tries to find out what's wrong with him, he changes into Sunspot and strikes out, pushing Peter backwards into the other two and knocking them out. Then Bobby starts to freak out and mutate.
Peter mind-calls to Prof X at the mansion and Xavier wakes up Sam and Dani and sends them to help. Colossus determines that Bobby is in some sort of agony and violent madness is his only way of dealing with it.
Peter doesn't want to hit the kid for fear of permanently hurting him, but Bobby starts to absorb him somehow, so he's left with no choice but to wallop him right out of the bar.
Sam and Dani arrive just as Bobby is flying through the air, but by the time they land and check on him, he has turned normal again and both he and Peter are unconscious.
Meanwhile, miss Aleytys Forrester takes Magneto to a hidden mysterious island in the center of the Bermuda Triangle to watch over him as he heals from his wounds. He is still having trouble physically being able to handle his powers and says he needs no one but Aleytys insists on helping anyway.
At the Mansion, prof X and Moira are examining the unconscious Peter and Bobby but can find no reason for their current state. Dani and Sam discuss the evenings events in the next room when the phone rings and Dani freaks out.
They go upstairs to check on Rahne but she is not there! Dani has Sam fly her into town to a ritzy hotel where Rahne apparently called her from. Dani uses her power to cloak the two of them and gets info from the clerk and they head up to a room.
Dani has not fully recovered from her injuries yet and is tiring out but uses her power one more time to get an image of who the clerk saw come in and it's a long red haired beauty! When they get to the room, Rahne is there and doesn't know how she got there or what is going on.
Sam flies them both back to the mansion and Dani finds the necklace with the big red gem in it on Rahne's nightstand.Rahne let's her have it.
In the morning the prof and Moira are still in the lab with Peter and Bobby. Dani and Sam discuss the nights events and Dani admits to having a dream about herself dressing up and going to the same hotel they found Rahne in.
She and Sam begin to wonder if Rahne and Bobby are sick and if they are somehow connected. Sam sees a newspaper article about a couple being attacked by a wolf and the picture is of Dagger!
Sam and Dani visit Cloak and Dagger in the hospital only to find out that they have returned to normal and lost their powers. Dani returns the necklace to Dagger.
Sam realizes that Bobby and Rahne have absorbed the other's powers from them and tells them they must help, but Cloak flat refuses, wanting to stay normal again.
At the lab in the mansion, Bobby wakes up, morphs out and absorbs Peter then attacks the Prof! The prof goes down unconscious as the mad Sunspot closes in...
Continued in Issue #24...
Personal Notes:
Oh no! This is what I was afraid of. I kept wondering when the ordeal Bobby and Rahne went through back in Team Up Annual #6 was gonna come to a head.
Well here it goes! I remember being so worried about what was gonna happen to Rahne and Bobby, not to mention the Prof and Peter!
The scene at the beginning was troubling to me. Was the Hellfire Club really gonna try to get Bobby to join them now that his father is a member? And what of Selene? Looks like the brewing of an inner Club feud was at hand between Shaw and Selene.
On top of all of this, why were they showing Magneto's recovery? Did they plan on bringing him further into this series somehow? Yikes!
