Label Notes
Jeff Smith story, cover, and art.
Synopsis
The Bone cousins along with Thorn, Gran'ma Ben, and Bartleby successfully walk thru Tanen Gard and Thorn finds herself feeling back to normal when the journey ends. The way forward shows no ghost circles but other dangers may lie ahead.
This is the second straight cover that shows a scene not in the book.
The Slab
Highest graded Signature Series book! My raw book signed by Jeff at the 2014 Emerald City Comic-Con. Thanks to dscott for facilitating! Graded by CGC on March 29, 2014.
Inside The Comic
Twenty one pages of story, two pages of ads, and a page for the 10th Anniversary List of Events. The inside front cover has a drawing of Kingdok’s mouth from page 16 with the black & white “coloring” reversed. The brief prologue is on the top left and the credits are as follows: Written and Drawn by Jeff Smith, Cover Color by Steve Hamaker (his first). For Cartoon Books: Vijaya Iyer as President, Kathleen Glosan as Production Manager, Steve Hamaker as Product Designer and Kevin Spain for Shipping and Archiving. The back cover has a panel from page 11 with Fone Bone slipping down the mountain and Phoney desperately trying to reach him.
Bone-a-Fides
There are no Bone-A-Fides in this issue.
Ads
The first non-story page is a list of various events that would occur for the 10th Anniversary celebration. It doesn’t contain anything new from the last list. The first ad is for the 12” Kingdok figure that’s a reprint from the last two issues. The second is the first for the Ghost Circles TPB & hardcover coming in the summer of 2001. The 10th Anniversary #1 is the feature of the inside back cover and has the same info as the last issue.
Estimated Copies Sold thru Diamond: 17000
Back Cover Collectible
Bone One Volume Limited Edition Hardcover 213/2000
I’m not exactly sure where I got this but I think I bought it from Grails on the CGC boards back in the late 2000s. It’s personalized on the dedication page with a pretty decent head sketch of Fone Bone & Ted and an artist sig by Jeff. The book itself is in wonderful condition and I grade it as a NM. It’s a fairly low number too at 213/2000. Couldn’t afford one of these at the time of publication (college) but I eventually tracked one down. A successful collector is a patient one ;-)
