Here we have a true gem. This is the infamous TMNT #4 2nd Printing Manufacturing Error.
So what happened here? Well, it seems that the 2nd printing of TMNT #4 and the first issue of a new Mirage book, Tales of the TMNT #1, were sent to the printer at the same time. Somehow, the image for the Tales cover was used for the cover of the TMNT #4 book. The book then made it into distribution where it was immediately recalled. Almost all of the 60,000 books were then destroyed.
Peter Laird was quoted by Comic Buyers Guide as saying that "Very few" copies survivied. Fortunately, I was able to snag this beauty. While I would have been more than content to land a beater of this book, I was estactic to land such a high quality copy.
As an aside, the interior of the book (including interior covers) are all TMNT #4 guts. It was just the cover that was misplaced (along with issue # logo).
