Steve Rogers recovers from his last go with the Red Skull, who escaped after their fight. Elsewhere, the Red Skull prepares for the awakening of the forth and final Sleeper, and reconnects with the Exiles, the Skull's renegade band of devoted followers from Nazi Germany. As Captain America discharges from the hospital, he finds his path littered with assassins, but he will have company on this mission, as SHIELD Agent 13 Sharon Carter, love of Steve Rogers' life, has insisted on being on assignment with him. Cap and Sharon track the villains to the Isle of the Exiles, face the fanatical Exiles, and ultimately face the Sleeper. They defeat him, but at the cost of the Red Skull learning of the love between the Captain and Agent 13.
