"Somewhere else...

...Doomsday is coming!"

This issue always had a mystique with me, which is more nostalgic than being the first appearance of Doomsday in cameo. I searched several comic shops in 1994/95 as a kid for this issue, I finally found a copy in ‘95 but it was the second printing. The four Superman titles dated November, 1992 with the Doomsday teasers on the last pages were difficult for me to track down.

I remember a trading card featuring Doomsday, with the back noting his first appearance in Superman: The Man of Steel #17. I also saw a cover image in a guide, being intrigued by the simple cover; I had to have a copy. As an adult, I’m still attached to the cover, I enjoy having this piece. I not only got this piece for the lowest GPA price to date, this was also one of the first copies to be graded 9.8. I enjoy the freshness and coloring of this piece and now I can say that I have the first appearance of Doomsday (cameo) as well as the first full appearance in Superman: The Man of Steel #18, the 12-year old inside of me is ecstatic.

Story continued in Superman #73 (11/92).
