Owner's Description
In Issue #53, Hal Jordan is sent to check and see if there are any bogus insurance claims due to a meteor crashing in an area of lumber stocks that are insured by the company. Checking things out as Green Lantern, Hal finds a giant named Thotan who has come from the planet Nabgor to steal Earth's oxygen for his home planet. Using his power ring to grow to the same size as Thotan, Hal tries to battle the creature hand-to-hand and easily defeats his foe. Carrying his opponent back to the planet Nabgor, Hal warns any of the people there to never attack the Earth again.
Our copy of this issue is one of the three highest graded as of 12/2019. Funny thing on this one is that I once owned the Pacific Coast copy, which we acquired from the November 2011 auction on CL of what was at that time the #1 Green Lantern registry set. However, because it was only a 9.6, I sold it to buy this 9.8. Naturally, much to my chagrin, the Pacific Coast copy is now a 9.8 too.
We acquired this copy in the 3/5/2015 CL auction.
