Owner's Description

I purchased this on ebay as CGC Apparent 9.0 (slight amateur restoration - color touch upper-left corner). At the time it was the most money I'd ever spent on a comic. This might have been a European auction or something, because I'm pretty sure I remember the end-time being very early in the morning. (GMT - 4) I remember being very frightened to push the "submit" button for the amount that I had before I went to bed, but I did it anyway, half thinking that I would lose when the auction was over, and set my alarm. I tossed and turned over this that night but managed to get up a few minutes before the auction ended. Still not sure if I'd be willing to raise my bid or just be relieved if I lost. I'm writing this almost 13 years later, but I think I had decided I could go an extra 100 or something up. One more bid increment... whatever that was. But, somewhat miraculously in the age of sniping, I managed to get the book at less than my maximum bid. I sure do wish it was a blue label or that the color touch could be removed, but I'm still super happy to have bought this when I did.

After having the case signed by Peter at HeroesCon in 2008, I ended up cracking and re-submitting this to CGC for restoration removal check, but it was not possible... comic was pressed and regraded as Apparent 9.2

Additional scans are of the comic in the original 9.0 slab and the front of the slab that I had Peter Laird sign. Original Census Number was 0146945001. I can't believe that I didn't think to scan the raw book after I cracked it. I think I was just really nervous about not hurting the book... and excited to see if the restoration could be removed. C'est la vie. Don't think I'll be re-cracking this one...
