This was the only time, that I found for sale on eBay a Joe Staton non-slabbed sketch cover. The previous owner had a Wonder Woman Bust sketched by Joe at New York Comic Con 2016. They also had Mike McKone. The sketch cover was in rough shape and definitely needed a press. The bidding ended slightly over what Joe normally charges for a small remarque so I was happy, and a plan was in place.
I am getting more creative now with sketch ideas through Joe due to the new pricing. As it was Baltimore 2022, Dan helped me with our yearly tradition of getting something freshly made from Joe Staton. I wanted a small Scooby head sketch added of Scooby trying to kiss Wonder Woman to add to the Scooby Doo with a character Joe Staton worked on. I was happy with the sketch and Joe only charged his remarque fee which made this collector very happy.
I knew coming in that this would be a hybrid label as the initial sketch and signature were unwitnessed, but this way, I was still able to add Joe Staton to the label by having him add onto the preexisting piece. If I ever come across a raw Joe Staton sketch cover in the wild again, I'll definitely keep this system in mind.
Steve Lydic had offered to draw and color a Scooby on the back cover to hide the staining and help potentially get the grade higher, but I passed this time since I don't usually do sketches with the back covered plus I was curious how low the grade could go. Yeah, I'm one of those oddballs it doesn't have to be a 9.8 person.

Qualified Green Label: 4 (9.8 x 3, 9.6 x 1) Mine is the 9.6 when a hybrid label, the census is updated in green.
