Owner's Description
Isherwood's back and Red Sonja is a southpaw again. So I sent this one in for the Isherwood signing opportunity over issue 196 due to the huge amount of white space on the cover. I am not displeased - look at that sweet doodle he did for me, in black and silver. As for the image itself - as weird as Sonja's eyes are - it's still a cover more focused on Sonja than Conan, and that's a win in my book. Plus, Sonja has picked up some more muscle - look at that sword arm and her back. Yeah, baby, that's more like it. She's a badass fighter, not some waif that needs rescued. And she's still sexy with the exposed collarbone and fantastic hair. Sonja's grip on her weapon looks right and I kinda dig the green and blue gloves. There's just not a lot for me to discuss in this cover. There's some weird draftsmanship choices with Sonja looking through her eyebrow, in order to look fierce - but other than that choice that Geof made, which doesn't work for me, it's a solid portrait cover, featuring Sonja.
Overall? Weird maybe - but I like it. I would have bought this off the spinner rack for a buck
