CGC's weekend at Wizard World Los Angeles 2008

Posted on 3/31/2008

During the weekend of March 14th through the 16th 2008, those attending Wizard World Los Angeles may have noticed a change at the CGC booth. It was at this show that Certified Guaranty Company premiered our new CGC uniform; a black polo style shirt with the familiar "CGC scale" logo in bold red and white. We did this to further accommodate our customers at the many conventions we attend through out the year. For example, how many times while you stood in line for an autograph has a CGC employee been right in front of you as they helped witness a customer's book get signed. You may of had no idea he or she was a CGC employee and/or the fact that you could ask him/her to witness your book get signed as well; making your book also be eligible for the CGC Signature Series label. Needless to say our secret identities are now revealed. Now whenever you see someone wearing one of these shirts you have a direct access and knowledge that you too can have your book submitted for Signature Series and all you have to do is ask the person in the CGC shirt to witness your book get signed.

At this years Wizard World Los Angeles the big book being submitted was the Wizard World LA Hulk #1 variant. Last years biggest submission at the show was the different versions of Captain America #25(the death of Steve Rogers) so it should come as no surprise that Captain America #34 (the issue where Bucky becomes the new Cap) was also a very big submission. Certified copies of the Dynamic Forces variant of Captain America #34 were given to a few lucky customers during random drawings throughout the three days of the show. This contest was a big success and those who won the book were very happy. Arthur Suydam, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Darwyn Cooke, Jeph Loeb, Josh Middleton, among many other talents attended Wizard World LA this year and many people took advantage of this by submitting their signed books for Signature Series designation. Once again we were in L.A. grading Onsite, so customers were able to submit their books to be graded and returned to them certified by the end of the show. As always onsite grading was a big success and customers were very excited to be holding their newly graded books within such a short period of time. Onsite grading is a great way for customers to save on shipping costs. Also, since our customer service representatives hand you back your submissions many of your questions can be answered immediately. We are even happy to try to help explain why a book got the grade it did. It should be of no surprise that "CGC Onsite Grading" is one of our most popular and most convenient services and we hope to provide it more to you in the future. This year we will also be grading onsite (Moderns only) at Wizard World Philadelphia (April 29th through June 1st) and Wizard World Chicago (June 26th through 29th). In addition we will be accepting regular submissions to take back with us to our office at all the shows we attend this year. A full list of our event schedule can be found at this link.
