Set Description:

Hello and welcome to: Cloak & Dagger: Light and Darkness.
Thanks for looking.

Added 11. July 2018: Cloak & Dagger #1 CGC 9.8 Signed by Rick Leonardi.

Cloak & Dagger are ( together with Sliver Surfer, FF, Cap. America, Spidey, Hulk & Thor ) my favorite MARVEL characters. Wherefore it was natural to collect them as CGC as a nice add-on to my reading copies.

After their first appearance in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #64 (3/82), their second appearance in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #69-70 (8-9/82) and their third appearance in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #81-82 (8-9/83), Cloak & Dagger where finally ready to star in their very own Limited Series.

Writer and co-creator Bill Mantlo was joined by artist Rick Leonardi and inker Terry Austin, who would do some of the best work in their careers, on this very series.

In the Spider-man stories, Cloak & Dagger had kind of the same role as The Punisher before them. Their would form a temporary alliance with Spider-man in order to bring criminals to justice with focus on drug lords including Silvermane and the Kingpin. These were fantastic action stories, but it was also clear, that Bill Mantlo had more and deeper stories to tell about these two teenage mutant vigilantes.
And therefore this mini series, that culminates in issue four with a longer and more in-depth version of their origin story.

This Limited Series was reprinted in a collected edition ( Hardcover ): "CLOAK & DAGGER: CHILD OF DARNESS, CHILD OF LIGHT." Published 2009.

Note: a variant of this was the MARVEL PREMIERE CLASSIC LIBERY EDITION vol. 23 with in slightly different cover.
Also published 2009.

If you like Cloak & Dagger, I recommend getting hold of MARVEL AGE #6 ( september 1983 ). This issue contain the 3-page article: "Cloak & Dagger: the creation of a new limited series." Here writer Bill Mantlo tells about how he got the idea for Cloak & Dagger. Furthermore this issue have a very nice Cloak & Dagger cover by Rick Leonardi, exclusively made for this issue.

I also recommend the Cloak & Dagger portfolio from 1984. This contains 10 very nice plates ( 14" x 10" ) with art by Rick Leonardi, inks by Terry Austin and colors by Glynis Wein.

Your are also welcome to check out my other Cloak & Dagger CGC sets: Cloak & Dagger Vol. 2.
and the custom set: Cloak & Dagger: the first years.

Enjoy your comics :)
Best regards - Sage121
