Set Description:
A super-hero of the golden age, villains should fear...
Cole had a stellar run on Catman, some of his best are on display here. I wish I had some of the early covers that were WW2 gems! If you can find a #3 that's such a stellar cover. Not often would I say that about a yellow and lavender cover, but it's true!
But yes, I'm an LB Cole freak so I limited myself to his contribution to this title. The last one I needed was the yellow "floating heads" cover with no number, or maybe's a #26 of a different volume, but who cares - it's sweet! Actually, this title was the victim of an odd circumstance where it was owned by a variety of publishers through the course of it's run. That is evident when you see the covers and the different names on the publishers notes.
Cole's run had some literal gems - the #28 is covered with them! I don't know if 28-32 are all classic but they could be. Many are on the Gerber volumes and are sought out by any GA collector. I'll have to apologize for my bad scans, I'll try to clean that up! The one in the snow is a sight to behold in person. The bright blue of the shark fight is accented by the other fish in the sea. And let's not forget the patriotic #27!
Just marvel at these beauties. I hope I hit the lottery so I can get the rest of them!
