Set Description:
Revival (2012)
For one day in rural central Wisconsin, the dead came back to life. |
Being a huge Tim Seeley fan and a zombie whore, I jumped at this book as soon as I saw it in the initial previews. It just looked right up my street, a zombie book with a twist, a rural noir (whatever that was?), a crime thriller and a horror, I couldn't think of anything better. The cover for number one was great, and I fell in love with Jenny Frison's art the moment I saw it. To make things sweeter, Mike Norton was on art duties, a personal favourite artist of mine. I meet Mike for the first time in London (LSCC February 2012) a few years back and I can't believe he didn't tell me he had this book in the offing at the time, I would have asked for early comps if he did lol.
Anyway, I decided quite quickly, to go out on a limb (see what I did there) and collect this set. For the first time, since ‘the Walking dead’ was released in 2003, I was going to create a proper registry set. I’m honestly not too bothered about being top of the class but I am a completest!! I need to have any set I collect to be at 100%, which can be a dangerous and expensive game, especially seeing as I live in the UK!
I loved this book so much, early on that I couldn’t wait to meet Tim and told him so in a letter I sent to Image HQ after issue 3. The letter in question was published in issue 6 (a copy of the letter can be found within the set). I finally met with Tim Seeley for the first time at LSCC 2013 where he was a guest at a show I help run. The man and his wife did not disappoint and we conversed over some drinks. |
I am collecting everything Revival and I felt the obsession forming as soon as I started. As of writing I have the original cover art for issues 5 and 14, sketches by both Mike Norton and Tim Seeley, a number of prints, a revival wristband, a Lego figure modeled on Dana, toe tags, a local Newspaper from Wasau, posters, postcards etc etc etc maybe I need to be sectioned before things go too far, or at least before my wife kicks me out... :eek
Due to my obsession and desire to show my collection off I plan on scattering little tidbits, in the form of EASTER EGGS, throughout the set, such as scans/photos* of other ‘Revival’ gear I own to this set (check out Issue 5 and 14 for original cover art by Jenny Frison). This way everyone can enjoy seeing more than just the comics in my set. I want people, looking at my registry, to not only see my great books but to also learn/see something new.
As part of the set I will be including story descriptions, with each book, as well as links to previews (where possible), Print run details, first appearance details (and deaths) and much more. Even if you haven’t read ‘Revival’ you’ll know what it’s all about while browsing the books in my set.
I hope you enjoy this set as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.
HAPPY REVIVING PEOPLE!
~ Gary
