Set Description:
Exciting Comics is possibly the most prestigious of the Nedor titles mainly due to the introduction of the Black Terror in issue #9. An issue I never thought I would get and now I won two copies. One reason I like this series is the first issues featured some very cool sci-fi covers. Throughout the 68 issues, several other characters were introduced although none reached the fame of BT. These included the Liberator, the American Eagle, Kara the Jungle Princess and Miss Masque.
Some great Schomburg covers dominated during the war years and he continued after into the series becoming a pseudo-western book at the end of its run. Issue #28 is a particular favorite and classic underwater cover. It is a Gerber no-show although probably not as scarce as once thought. The issues around it may be even more scarce such as #27, #29, and #30. #39 is fairly infamous for its cover as Nazis give poisoned candy to children.
Exciting Comics is a great run of books over its 68 issues. I have a good percentage slabbed and some raw as I close in on obtaining a copy of every issue.
My goal is to complete runs of all the major Nedor, Better, Standard titles which includes: America's Best Comics, Black Terror, Exciting, Fighting Yank, Startling, Thrilling and Wonder Comics.
Enjoy!
