Set Description:
Mini Series 1982
Marvel Comics: Sep 1982 - Dec 1982
In 2015 I I started collecting graded mini series’ from the 1980’s. My thoughts immediately went to the three iconic ones; Dark Knight, Punisher 1986 and of course Wolverine 1982. I never read any Wolverine books but I knew about him. I would always see this mini series on the wall and out of my price range for a young fellow back in the late 80’s. The first time I read about Wolverine in a comic was Punisher War Journal issues #6 and #7. When I saw him battle The Punisher I was thinking, “That this character is legit!” He’s brutal and didn’t take any crap. Later on in life I picked up a raw set of issues #1-#4 at a great price and dipped my toe in to the world of Wolverine. This series was really, really good. I love Frank Millers art and Chris Claremont’s story was awesome. As expected there was a ton of action and Logan didn’t play around. I’ve read quite a few of Wolverine’s follow on stories and to be honest they never lived up to their reputation in my opinion. But these books were definitely worth the buy. I am quite happy they are part of my collection.
I found acquiring these books in high grade was both physically and financially easy, at the time. Between eBay and my fellow board members I was able to put together a complete set within a matter of just a few weeks. The “hardest” one to track down for me was issue #3. I use the term “hard” loosely in this context. I’ve been tossing around the idea in my head to collect the series again in Newsstand and also pick up issues #2-#4 Canadian Price Variants. It’s not on the top of my list of goals but it’s possibly something I might attempt in the future.
