Superman (volume 2) or Superman (second series) was published from January 1987 to April 2006. 228 issues were printed: 226 monthly issues, plus issue #0 (published October 1994, between issues #93 and #94, and during the Zero Hour crossover event) and issue #1,000,000 (published November 1998, between issues #139 and #140, during the DC One Million crossover event). This series was first launched after John Byrne revamped the Superman character in 1986 in The Man of Steel limited series, introducing the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths Superman. After that limited series, Action Comics returned and Superman vol. 2, #1 was published. A new title, Adventures of Superman premiered with #424, continuing the numbering of the original Superman (comic book) series.
The historic engagement of Lois Lane and Clark Kent in issue #50 (Dec. 1990) was one of the major events in the book's run. Another major highlight during this series' run was The Death of Superman in Superman vol. 2, #75 (January 1993). Another major storyline event during this series was For Tomorrow published in issue #204 - #215 (June 2004 - May 2005).
Superman (volume 2) reached issue #226 (April 2006) and was then cancelled as part of the companywide Infinite Crisis storyline. Adventures of Superman was returned to its original title, Superman, with issue #650 (May 2006).
One Special issue was published in 1992.
