Set Description:
There’s a lot of quality here and a very very long ways to go to ever finish this set. In fact, this set is so poor in terms of quantity that it’s not even on our target list, which contains about 15 other titles, to finish. I think it’s safe to say that we have reached a point of stopping here since, as completists, all I feel we are doing with this one is throwing good money after bad. It’s one of those titles that we started collecting because we had already completed our JLA, Flash, Green Lantern, Atom and Aquaman runs, as well as most of the SA Wonder Womans, and thought it would be nice to have representative collections of the other main JLA members.
At the time, the books were appearing frequently in high grades and at very reasonable prices. Why that was I do not really know, I just know it’s no longer the case: the books are now almost impossible to find and expensive when you do, at least that’s been true for the books we still need. Most likely, there are two or three very well heeled collectors who already have most of the highest graded copies locked up and who bid ferociously when they don’t. That’s all fine, it just wasn’t the case earlier or we would have never started this collection. Where were those collectors when we started this title, I have no idea? I just know we will never come close to finishing this set in the current collecting climate and feel that our time and money would be better spent elsewhere. So I won’t waste any further time describing this one, other than to say that, at least for now, it’s just a place for us to inventory what we have in this title. Thankfully, our Batman collection that we started about the same time has progressed much further, but we probably should have just stuck with World’s Finest if we wanted to dip into Batman and Superman. Nobody seems to want those books LOL.
