Set Description:
This series had already come and gone by the time my father and I began collecting comics. It would be about a year or so after that before I took any real notice of the series.
I had read through a number of the different Marvel characters basic storylines by the time I started getting these so I had a decent grasp on the concepts being presented in them.
I read them as I got them. Some were decent, some were great, some were weird, but ALL were absolutely fascinating!
Looking back on many of these now, you can see where some of the alternate story lines were later incorporated in one form or another into the characters actual comic series.
Some even appear to have been possible inspiration for very modern story lines (check out the cover to #23). Planet Hulk anybody?
With releases from the late 70's through the early 80's, this series passed from the bronze age into the copper age. Though some of the alternate storylines went back to the silver age, some were based on more modern (at the time) spots in the characters life.
The other neat thing I liked about this series at the time was that you didn't have to read them in order. They were each a stand alone story (or two or three!) in each issue. So no matter which one I got my hands on, I could immediately read it. I thought that was great!
I don't know if I'll ever own all of these in 9.8 but I will find it hard to resist snatching them up when the opportunity (and cheap price) presents itself!
In the end, I'm left with only one question.
WHAT IF I MANAGE TO GET THEM ALL?
