Set Description:
The Detective Comics run of issues 471 through 476 is a classic within a classic: Detective Comics 401 through 500. Befitting a classic, my ultimate goal for this set is to have all six issues in it in Comics Guaranty Corporation (CGC) graded 9.8 or higher grade and, preferably, with white pages.
As you will note in the comments to some of the comic books in this set, it took me several years from the creation of my Detective Comics 401 to 500 set to obtain some of these comic books in CGC graded 9.8 grade. Specifically, the "hard to find" issues in this grade were issue numbers 473, 474, 475, and 476. Of course, I have yet to find copies of issue numbers 471 and 472 in, at least, CGC graded 9.8 grade, although in 2013 I was able to upgrade issue number 472 from a CGC graded 9.4 Old CGC Universal Blue Label copy to a CGC graded 9.6 copy when a fellow CGC Board and Registry member placed one for sale on the Comics Market - Forum Only Selling Area.
As with all of the issues in the larger Detective Comics 401 through 500 run, I purchased several copies of each of the six issues in this set when they first "hit the newsstand" at the "almost-corner grocery store." However, as I note in the Set Description for Detective Comics 401 through 500, all the comic books in this set were purchased "slabbed" as I have not submitted any of my original owner copies of the comic books in this set to CGC for grading. As I state in the Detective Comics 401 through 500 set, I hope to send my original owner copies of Detective Comics 471 through 476; those that I believe are "worthy" of CGC grading; to CGC for grading in the future, more than likely after my retirement.
Well, enough said, at least for now, it is time to continue trying to improve this set.
