ISSUE SYNOPSIS: Spawn the Impaler (part 2 of 3)

Back in the time of Prince Vlad, his wife encounters Kazakla Bey – the leader of the invading Turks. She learn that Vlad is dead; Bey is now king. However, at the site of Vlad’s death, the prince’s corpse is enveloped in a green glow. After arising from the dead, the Hellspawn returns in order to finish the battle he started.

Springing ahead to the future, Abbie is growing closer with Drake. She’s also calling him by the name of Vlad. This behavior mystifies Abbie’s parents, who hold back feelings of trepidation while permitting her the freedom she speaks. After arriving at Vlad’s, the couple begin a romantic interlude that is interrupted by Vlad’s sudden resistance to her physical advances. He voices his concerns about the effect of previous relationships – affairs with which came the heavy cost of loss. Once again, he mysteriously explains that one day she will eventually understand.

Back in the dark ages, Vlad confronts Bey, who is shocked to see that his enemy is now a mutilated monstrosity of a creature. Vlad encounters his wife, who is terrified by his new appearance. She runs away from the monster’s advances and falls off a balcony to her death. Enraged, Vlad continued to slaughter the Turks, thus earning the name of Vlad the Impaler – the earth’s latest Hellspawn.
