Owner's Description

The Set: This book was signed by Koike on 11/1/14, part of a large set of Koike's I was able to get done all at once, at Stan Lee's Comikaze. <br /><br />The Cover: A beautiful Mike Ploog cover, one of only eight (compared to Miller's, Sienkiewicz's and Wagner's twelve each). Welcome to the 1990's says the hot pink font. This is a very dynamic painted piece.<br /><br />Koike took great care with his signature placement on most of his books, and this one is no exception.

Second Slot: Usagi Yojimbo vol. 3, nu. 1. This is a NG card stock added cover created for signing and sketching. This book was signed and sketched on 3/24/13.

Stan Sakai has an interesting connection to LW&C. 1) He created the characters, "Lone Goat and Kid" for his own series, Usagi Yojimbo, in homage to Lone Wolf and Cub. 2) He was an expert advisor on a few of the Dark Horse original edition trades, starting with volume 4: The Bell Warden, December, 2000. 3) He worked with Mike Richardson and Koike Kazuo on the graphic novel, "47 Ronin" published by Dark Horse in 2013/2014. Suffice to say, Stan Sakai has left a mark on the work.

The sketch is remarkable. This piece was commissioned by me personally, and shows Usagi and Lone Goat joyously cheering on Kid and Jotaro in a friendly duel. This is simply an amazing piece created by a Master at the top of his form, and I couldn't be happier with the piece!
