Owner's Description

The Amazing Rain of Gems! Considered by many to be the first Silver Age issue of this long running science fiction series. Oddly, not an issue that has been slabbed by CGC very much - there's only one other copy on the census at 5.5, and one recently sold by Worldwide Comics as a FN++.
The cover is an interesting split scene (not something I typically enjoy) used to depict what both above & below ground simulatneously. The curious placement of the single word balloon is distracting to the art, which is otherwise typical for this time period - although I do like the strong blue background with the yellow house, and the black and dark blue to represent 'underground'. My eye is continuously drawn (no pun) to the man on the left who is so into grabbing as many gems as he can with his hat that he is stepping off either 3 or 4 steps all at once, which will be a surprise. Disappointing is the man in the background, center-right, who has a full bag of gems that have no visible weight. Overall - I don't know that I would have selected this book off the comic rack based on the cover art alone - which may be why so few quality copies have come to light to date. Of course, everyone could be hoarding unslabbed copies, but I find that unlikely.
