Owner's Description

Boston. "Prisoner of the Living Throne!" I love this cover and I simultaneously loathe this cover. I hooked for dome time before finding a copy that was high grade but not stupidly out of my willingness to pay range. There isn't anything special about the issue to drive the price up, but the black cover does make it more difficult to find.
I really like the way Thor's face is rendered. The first time I saw this cover image I was fascinated by Thor's face, but at the same time the transition from Thor's torso to the throne seems forced. I don't much care for the motion lines around the arms & hands, but I love the doody face on the protagonist. There's something about his bright clothes that doesn't feel right, like maybe an adventurer in the Nordic lands would be wearing more layers and less bright colors. Maybe a sweater? A cap? A rucksack?
Overall, I think my first impression would have been enough to sell me on this book from the dinner rack, even with the very static composition.
