NOTES OF INTEREST: This issue was released with two covers - a standard cover and a McFarlane sketch cover. This particular specimen is an example of the McFarlane sketch cover. Only 100 copies of this edition were ever published - a number which makes this variant one of the rarest Spawn comics ever made. They are extremely difficult to find in this condition due to the black cover, which tends to magnify any flaws.
ISSUE SYNOPSIS: - Endgame (part 5 of 12)
Jim Downing is struggling to remember his past. He is also trying to understand the source of his new powers. Feeling the dark power that now dwells within him, Downing hits the city streets in order to test the limitations of his new abilities. It is clear now that Downing carries the curse of the Hellspawn. He will find his new powers to be both corrupting and addictive. In the meantime, the Violator begins to recruit his personal army.
CENSUS REPORT: Tied for top census copy as of 6/13
REFLECTIONS: Of all the "Endgame" variant covers, this is by far my favorite. This issue is very difficult to find, especially in this sort of beautiful condition. This book is striking in person. I've seen this exact cover art on various foreign editions of Spawn, specifically Le Chroniques de Spawn - published in France.
