NOTES OF INTEREST: This was the first part of a two-part crossover story with the Savage Dragon. The story came to a conclusion in the pages of Savage Dragon #30.

ISSUE SYNOPSIS: - Messiah

Cyan's shoelace is the only physical clue to Terry's mysterious recovery from cancer. Terry's nightmares mirror Al's experiences. Spawn enters Hell's fifth level where he is revered as a returning savior. He is forced into a confrontation with the Savage Dragon and defeats the dragon for the position of the Messiah. The dwellers of Hell turn on both of them and stone them to death - or do they?

In his office, Wynn plots against Sam and Twitch, setting up a secret meeting where they are to be eliminated. Meanwhile, Terry has finally linked Wynn to illegal activities, but blacks out due to a mysterious illness. In Rat City, Spawn builds a hideout. Cog wonders who is building it - Spawn or his costume.
