Owner's Description

"Monday's Coward - Tuesday's Hero." Between Heath and Kuburt for the covers, Our Army at War really had a great advantage over many contemporary offerings. Both artists were amazing cover artists. Look at this beauty: Rock is leaping at a jeep/car full of Nazis while it simultaneously runs over a mine and the soldier riding shotgun shoots back! The fading almost pink to purple background is the perfect compliment to the yellow-orange explosion and the greens of the Nazi vehicle and Rock's uniform. Floating right in the center of the composition is Rock's rank on his shoulder, which us nicely the same shade as his hair...and ties it all together.
My only complaint on the entire image is the placement of the text box - it isn't terrible...but couldn't it be above the masthead instead?
I guess when I look back at all of the war covers in the sixties from DC, it is likely that I wouldn't have had any money left over for superhero books..
