Owner's Description

2nd SA appearance of the Spectre. The Spectre re-intro issues are among the better Showcase issues of the go-go check period. This cover - with the Spectre and the demonic figure having a knock down of serious magnitude really brings the power of the Golden Age version of the Spectre to the fore. Spectre is an agent of heaven, punishing wrong-doers, not some namby-pamby hero about saving people and redemption. Look at this beauty against the star lit background: Spectre is posting one right in the breadbox while simultaneously taking Argentina to the forehead. Two text boxes clutter up what might have been a great cover, but they avoid turning if into a heinous cover by not bring bright yellow (see Our Army at War #168).
Although I think the cover colors are too muted for me to really love this cover, I do like the composition and I really do believe I could have purchased this off the spinner rack with my hard earned 12 cents.
