I joined Heritage in November of 2007, when I checked their archives for the first time, I noticed this piece, and the low price it sold for. I thought to myself how I should have joined a bit sooner and how I could have had a shot. In of May of 2008, I received a newsletter from Classic Incorporated, announcing a new website called Worldwide Comics. They had a wonderful selection of Action Comics, and I was happy to see Action #481 for sale, which turned out to be the same piece that sold on Heritage. I thought about it and decided to purchase this piece, for almost double the original auction price, and I never looked back.
From what I've read, the 'Supermobile' was controversial with readers at the time due it's appearance mainly for marketing purposes. Since I was not around at time, I only see this as a terrific José Luis García-López cover. There is campiness to it that's charming in a way, the blues against the yellows compliment each other and the POV is fun up in the sky!
