Owner's Description

The announcement that Superman is Dead made this book have a special feel to it at the time, letting the reader know that things have changed (at least for now) for the worse, and we need to get used to it. It made Superman's death feel final. This book set me back $50.00 on eBay.

The League, and the World, is in mourning.

I like the use of the outer cover on this book and wonder how this type of decision was made.

I had a picture of the reverse side of the book/slab in the gallery but then realized that it was just a solid red back, so I wanted to make it a little more interesting. The second picture slot is a Justice League plate put out by the Warner Brothers Stores in 1997. It was from an image created by Alex Ross and was limited to 5000. I really enjoyed the WB Stores before they were shut down. My wife and I had a pretty good relationship with the Gallery Manager at the Fashion Valley location in San Diego and would get first dibs on limited edition Superman related merchandise when it was announced, such as animation cels, lithographs, maquettes, etc. I think this plate is much funner to look at than the back of this book!
