Owner's Description

Crime Detective Comics #9 is referenced in Fredric Wertham’s “Seduction of the Innocent” (SOTI) in the text on page 16 and also in illustration #25.

On page 16, Wertham describes the cover of Crime Detective Comics “And the cover of a crime comic book showed a caricature of me as a psychiatrist tied to a chair in his office with mouth tightly closed and sealed with many strips of adhesive tape. This no doubt was wishful thinking on the part of the comic-book publishers”. Illustration #25 depicts the cover of Crime Detective Comics #9 with the caption “Caricature of the author in a position comic-book publishers wish he were in permanently”.
