Owner's Description

Fugitives from Justice #3 is referenced in Fredric Wertham’s “Seduction of the Innocent” (SOTI) as illustration #6 with the caption “An invitation to learning”.

The story “Buried Bullets Betray the Burglar” from Fugitives from Justice #3 contains a panel of a woman wearing lingerie sitting on a bed that Wertham used as illustration #6 in the SOTI. The story in Fugitives from Justice #3 reprints the original story “Human Cat Trapped by Death Gun Slugs” from Authentic Police Cases #6. A close examination of the two panels shows that Illustration #6 was taken from the panel contained in the original Authentic Police Cases #6 version of the story and not the panel from Fugitives from Justice #3. The Fugitives panel has modified dialogue and a less revealing image of the woman’s legs and stockings than the panel used as Illustration #6 in the SOTI.
