Owner's Description

This is a pretty great cover. I like the way he is standing there like he is in charge! Superman is known for fighting for Truth, Justice, and yes... The American Way. The way Cyborg Superman is holding the Flag implies that he has taken that torch from Superman, and the fact that the Flag is tattered, to me, means he is going to tear Truth and Justice apart.

The first book to occupy this slot was a Universal 9.8, which was one of four books that I got in a trade for Superman 75 and Adventures of Superman 500 Platinum Editions both graded 9.6. I replaced the Universal with this Signature Series signed by Dan Jurgens in May 2021, well after my set was 100% complete, and when I only needed one more 9.8 to have all 9.8's or above. It is always fun to improve this set whenever I can!

I included a picture of the 12" Cyborg Superman Toys R Us exclusive figure in the second picture. Oh how I miss Toys R Us!

Funny story about Toys R Us; when I was getting out of the Marine Corps after 30 years my goal was to work there. It all started when I saw an advertisement for Toys R Us jobs in a magazine that said careers in fun... a light bulb went on in my head. I checked their job openings that day and noticed I would need a Degree to get a good position. I had taken some college courses throughout the years but hadn't been super-motivated to finish. I enrolled the next day and finished my Bachelors Degree before I left service. I eventually interviewed for a HR Supervisor position in late 2014. The interview went really well, lasting two hours. I had done my homework and the Manager seemed to really like me. Before actually offering the position she, almost apologetically, told me the max she would be allowed to pay me. Even with a waiver from District HR bumping me beyond the high right side of the pay scale it wasn't good. It also meant working weekends, opening and closing, etc. When reality hit me, it ended up being something I couldn't see myself doing at that stage in my life. So much for a career in fun! I ended up moving on from that dream and have since finished my Masters Degree and have a second career in Instructional Design. BTW - while this was all going on my Wife thought I had absolutely lost my mind. Maybe I was a little crazy trying to find myself after serving in uniform for so long, but at the time a career in fun sounded pretty good after having served in actual ground combat multiple times. I like to think that things happen for a reason and without this temporary goal I might not have ever gotten myself back in school. We all know what has happened with Toys R Us since, total bummer!

Speaking of bummers you should check out my Major Bummer (1997) competitive Registry set when you get a chance!
