Owner's Description

Long story on this one. I became aware of this book several years ago, when it was single highest graded, but at a much lower grade. The owner, who was a good friend, sold me a number of Wonder Womans, but always cherished this one and we never could agree on a price. Then he sent it to CGC and, lo and behold, the book jumped to a 9.6. It is a very nice book and one of my favorite WW covers, but when a book jumps more than two grades, they obviously got it very wrong the first time.

At any rate, my friend unfortunately succumbed to cancer and his remaining books came up at auction. I was fortunate enough to grab three of them, with this one being the headliner. The price was far less than what I offered him, and which he turned down repeatedly, while he was alive. I think we all become attached to certain books and overvalue them.

The book is the single highest graded example with no other 9.6s or 9.4s and just a single 9.2 in the census. We acquired it in CL’s 2020 Fall Featured Auction. For me, it will also be a memento of my lost friend, as it was both of our favorite Wonder Woman cover.
