Owner's Description

In Issue #18, "Journey into the Micro-World”, the Justice League finds themselves shrunken down to subatomic size. Appearing in the micro-world of Starzl they are confronted by the Protectors of Starzl, three androids named Terrane, Ocana and Etheran. The three androids are virtually indestructible and due to the radiant Ultrazone radiation in their helmets they are shortening the life spans of the people of Starzl.

The three androids ask the Justice League to destroy them to save the lives of the people of Starzl. Batman, Green Arrow, and Atom take on Terrane, protector of the land; Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Superman battle Etheran, protector of space; and Martian Manhunter, Aquaman and the Flash fight Ocana, protector of the seas.

After being initially defeated, the Justice League realize that the world of Starzl is a world governed by suggestion when Batman manages to bend open the bars of prison created for Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern when all the other members of the League members proved unable to do so. Realizing that once something has been suggested (for example, the androids being invincible) it becomes the truth to the person who hears the suggestion. Recruiting Snapper Carr to help them out, they convince Snapper that he can defeat the androids where they had failed. Because Snapper believes that he can defeat the androids he succeeds in doing so. With the androids defeated the Green Lantern uses his power ring to remove all the Ultrazone from the realm. With the threat to the people of Starzl saved, the JLA return to their own world.

Our book comes from the fabled Pacific Coast Collection and is one of only two 9.8s in the census, not to mention the only copy with white pages. We acquired it in the 11/19/2020 Heritage auction.
