From what I understand these cardboard "Mark Jewelers" insert variants were distributed from the early '70s to early '90s, in proximity to military bases, both domestic and abroad. It is always nice to have a variant, or see a notation on a CGC label, but this is not as interesting or visible as say a logo or price variant.
I purchased this piece at the Wizard World 2011 Chicago Comic Con, from Worldwide Comics, to replace another 9.8 copy of this issue in my collection at the time. My previous copy was very fresh with vibrant colors but the price disc on the top right was truncated. My previous copy had slightly brighter colors with sharper cover corners, but in my compulsiveness, I just couldn't get over the cover alignment and sold it.
