Synopsis for “Debts of Honor!”:*
With the Casket of Ancient Winters shattered, a supernatural cold spreads across Midgard. Roger suspects Melodi is up to something, but with a spell, she prevents him from telling Thor. Agnar and Balder arrive back in Asgard to tell Odin of the vision Balder has seen. Thor brings Malekith back to Asgard, and Odin puts him in the Prison of No Escape. With Malekith locked away, Odin tells them the history of the challenge they now face. He tells them of Surtur, his brothers and the birth of the Odinpower, and of the coming war. And to help in the coming battle, Odin summons Beta Ray Bill back to Asgard.

Favorite line and some thoughts:
This issue is among my favorites in the run. Walt's Odin, like Stan and Jack's, cuts a massive, imposing figure, but he always struck me as more given to introspection and less to anger. He's really only around for the first third of the run, but during that time we learn about his ancient history with Surtur and how his brothers Vili and Ve met their death at the hands of the fire demon. Odin tells this tale right before Surtur pierces the veil of Midgard, further upping the ante of the epic battle about to unfold in New York and Asgard. So it was an obvious choice to ask Walt for an Odin remarque, and I couldn't be happier with this little gem. How Walt was able to create these diminutive portraits with only a few strokes of a marker is beyond me.
