Located: Barnegat, New Jersey
Special Thanks to eBayer: madcapcomics
This issue has three variants. Unfortunately, at this time CGC has chosen to recognize them as the same issue but notes the difference in the label. I personally feel these should be two separate and distinct books. At this time they cannot be represented properly in the collection. I would love to hear your thoughts! Issue #213 has a similar problem.
1. Prodigy cover over Spider-Man
2. Spider-Man cover over Prodigy.
3. Spider-Man single cover "Newsstand"
Story:
Identity Crisis #257 "Prodigy" Identity Crisis Part 7 of 8. (Peter Parker as Prodigy Part 1 of 2.) Script by J.M. DeMatteis. Pencils by Luke Ross. Inks by Dan Green and Al Milgrom. Cover by John Romita. A new superhero bursts on the scene in New York City: Prodigy! But the new hero is actually your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in disguise! However regardless of his identity or costume, Peter Parker fights crime wherever he finds it! And when a visiting ambassador's daughter is abducted, Prodigy leaps into action! But before Prodigy locates the missing girl, he bumps into a new super-villain called Conundrum...and an old one called Jack O'Lantern! The training wheels have officially come off! Cameo appearances by Mary Jane Watson, Anna Watson, Betty Brant, Flash Thompson, Norman Osborn, J. Jonah Jameson, and Billy Walters. (Notes: This story was reprinted in 1998 in the trade paperback: Marvel Finest's Spider-Man Identity Crisis; and again in 2012 in the trade paperback: the Amazing Spider-Man Identity Crisis.) 36 pages. Cover price $1.99.
