Owner's Description

Hanna Barbera's Secret Squirrel launched his career on Sept 12, 1965 on a NBC television special titled The World of Atom Ant and Secret Squirrel. He was created as a parody of the spy genre movies popular at the time. Atom Ant and Secret Squirrel went onto share a Saturday morning show starting in October, 1965. He briefly got to headline his own show starting in 1966, but had to share the half hour with Squiddly Diddle and Winsome Witch. He reunited with Atom Ant in 1967.<br /><br />The sixty's were not kind to Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole as far as comics go. They had exactly ONE newsstand comic, dated October, 1965. The Secret Squirrel Kite Fun Book is the only other comic from Secret Squirrel dating from the 1960s, although in the 1990s he would make a comeback on TV and comics as a retro character.<br /><br />The Secret Squirrel Kite Fun Book was prepared in late 1966, with a 1966 copyright, and distributed to schools in the spring of 1967. Don Christensen and Kellog Adams are noted as associated with the production of this book.<br /><br />Currently, five variants are known. They include Pacific Gas and Electric, Florida Power and Light, Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company, plus two different variants from Southern California Edison. All have eight kite safety rules on the back cover except for the two from Southern California Edison, which both have six kite flying rules.<br /><br />This CGC 3.5 Very Good Minus with white to off white pages is the only graded copy from Pacific Gas and Electric.
