Owner's Description

I remember this issue was actually supposed to have shipped as an anniversary special when Civil War was occurring in Marvel. I even remember reading Ed Brubaker discuss it in an issue of Marvel Spotlight as he talked about his opportunity to work with Gene Colan.

I really loved this Cap issue. It's set in the WWII era with Cap and Bucky as they tackle vampires!

Also pictured is a sketch from my collection from Gene Colan. Thanks goes out to Cosimo Torrello for helping me acquire this piece.

Gene Colan passed away in 2011, a legendary artist whose impact on the medium will not be forgotten. I feel fortunate to have been exposed to his art, appreciate it and have some knowledge of his contributions to comics as an artist. It is humbling now to have autographs and even a piece of art from him, RIP.
