Owner's Description

Signed by Mike Perkins. Huge thanks goes out to Cosimo Torello of New York for providing me with this super rare book for my collection.

This issue was released between issues #15 and #16 of the series in the midst of artist Mike Perkins' arc with Ed Brubaker. He also draws an epilogue at the end of the issue.

This anniversary special consists of a really sweet WWII story with Cap and Bucky teaming up with Nicky Fury and the Howling Commandos. The art of this story is great and seamless between Javier Pulido and Marcos Martin.

The threat of the story centers on Cap and crew trying to stop the Nazi's from discovering an old ancient "monster god of iron and fire". It turns out the Red Skull is behind the excavation, who is endeavouring to utilize another Sleeper Robot for his plans!

In the Epilogue, we see Sharon and Cap emphasizing just how much Bucky has lost (made clear by the previous WWII story) and how much they have to find him.

The final page of the issue shows Lukin/Red Skull returning to the very same city of the WWII story with a map/parchment revealing the face of the baron referenced earlier in the issue who turns out to be none other than Doctor Doom!

Also pictured is my reading copy signed by Ed Brubaker, Mike Perkins and Frank D'Armata.

Personal Note:

This revelation of Doctor Doom will eventually be used to setup a later meeting which actually occurs in the Civil War tie-ins, and the same Sleeper Robot is used 21st Century Blitz.

This Anniversary Special has turned out to be an extremely rare book and extremely difficult to find in high grade. If you've looked for this book, you might have some idea of how hard it is to find. This issue is just as rare as any of the other early issues in this series. It's more than just an anniversary issue!
