When I was 11 years old there was this man down the street that knew that wanted to encourage my reading and the joy that comes from it. He offered to sell me a box of comics he had when he was a boy and liked to read. When I paid him the $5.00 I could barely contain my joy....sooo many comics. I hurried home and began to read them and sift through the box. This one was my favorite. I watched "Shazam!" on TV and at 57 I still remember the Society of evil story. I literally was shaking with excitement while going through the box of comics. I even read the torn up ones in the bottom of the box. I almost threw out a Donald the Duck book because I could barely read it due to it missing the cover and being ripped up. I was shocked when I discovered "Donald the Duck and the Mummy's Ring" in a recently purchased Overstreet Price Guide just by the title of the story. When I went into the Army I contacted a kid down the street and hand delivered a gift box of reading material from when I was a kid in the mid 70's so the joy of reading might continue.
