Set Description:

Invincible (Mark Grayson) is an Image Comics Universe superhero who first appeared in a preview as part of Tech Jacket #1 (November 2002), before graduating to his own self-titled regular series in 2003, as the premier title in Image's then-new superhero line. The book is notorious for being graphically violent despite its colourful nature and visuals.

The story:
Invincible is the son of Omni-Man, an extraterrestrial superhero of the Viltrumite race. He inherited his father's superhuman strength and ability to fly and he has sworn to protect the Earth. As a teenager he had trouble adjusting to his newfound powers and coping with the reality of his origins.

Creative team:
While Robert Kirkman has been the sole writer of the series, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley have contributed the art. Cory Walker co-created the book and provided art from #1 to #7, as well as #127–132. Ryan Ottley assumed art duties with issue #8 and has been pencilling since. Kirkman has provided back-up space for a few aspiring comic creators, most notably Benito Cereno and Nate Bellegarde.

The end of the series:
In August 2016, Robert Kirkman announced that the series would end late in 2017 with issue #144, with Ryan Ottley "coming back to the book" for the final twelve-issue sequence. Issue #144, which was twice the size of a standard issue, was released on 14 February 2018.

The film:
On 4 April 2017, it was announced that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg would write, direct and co-produce a film adaptation of the comic for Universal Pictures. It was to be produced by Point Grey Pictures and Skybound Entertainment. Series creator Robert Kirkman was also set to produce the movie, alongside David Alpert and Bryan and Sean Furst.

The animated series:
On 19 June 2018, Amazon Studios announced they had greenlit an adult animated adaptation of the comic series, set to consist of eight hour-long episodes with creator Robert Kirkman to executive produce the series. On 31 January 2019, a full cast list was revealed featuring Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead's Glenn) and J. K. Simmons cast as Invincible and Omni-Man respectively.
