Batman's realization that events beyond his control are about to occur is solidified on page 8 of this issue as he tries to help his friend, the Flash, who disintegrates before his eyes. This exchange gives you the big feel of a summer blockbuster!

Earth 6 destroyed, Red Tornado corrupted and the death of the Monitor! Even with all this tragedy, Marv Wolfman is still able to pull laughs through the Firestorm and Killer Frost combo after Psycho Pirate causes Firestorm's foe, Killer Frost to fall in love with him. Good times!

Alex Luthor makes a full appearance in this issue and is a hero during this series. 20 years later, Infinite Crisis shows us his true destiny. Uncle Sam and his Freedom Fighters make a valiant stand on the last page and make me sad considering their fate in Infinite Crisis #1.

The history of the Monitor vs. Anti-Monitor starts this issue off, however it is the final stand of Kara Zor-El that takes center stage in this poignant tale of sacrifice.

Darkseid's appearance foreshadows his involvement in stopping the Anti-Monitor further in the series. However it is the death of Barry Allen, The Flash, that punches you in the chest in this tale.

Enter the Spectre! Great feature of this issue was the Monitor Tapes story on every page that informed the reader in black and white of the impact the Crisis was having across the DC Universe, including the death of Prince Gavyn-Starman.

The final issue! The Anti-Monitor met his destruction at the hands of DC's big gun heroes and Darkseid! I remember reading this issue and feeling good that Superman, Lois, Superboy and Alexander Luthor were able to stay together and live in everlasting peace. Post Infinite Crisis, I know this not to be true, and that makes me sad! Kudos to DC for having the fortitude to tell a story that would force changes to it's comic universe.
