Set Description
I have always asked for a set for blank variants to be made and for some reason always seemed to fall short on having one done. It would be amazing to see everyone's art in one place so here goes my first attempt. Everything within showcases my collection of CGC Cable Blank art and or remarkings made by artists for me. Additionally you'll find a few added commissions of Cable related characters, i.e. X-Force, his daughter Hope, some mommy dearest, and a few villains here and there related to the X-Force and Cable. Enjoy!!!
Set Goals
No real goal for this one. Just a great venue to place a collection of Blank cover commissions.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
This one is actually my favorite sketch cover to date. Pencils by the series artist Salvador Larroca, Inks by legendary modern inker Scott Hanna, and colors by my favorite colorist Sabine Rich, there is absolutely nothing about this one that I don’t like. I am honestly blown away everytime I see this one.

So K How Many Are There???
Some how I thought there were more… funny enough I own almost very one of these that have been graded as a Signature Series book. In total there is 1 9.8 blue label, 1 qualified green label, 9 of those coveted 9.8SS, 7 9.6SS, 3 9.4SS’s, 2 9.2SS’s and a single 9.0SS. Out of 24 total CGC Signature Series books graded here I own all but 3 from this group.
Story Title: Prologue – “Some Ones Got Bad Dreams”
MY TYPE OF SUMMARY:
Cable, Domino, Doctor Nemesis and Colossus are in a partly destroyed factory, surrounded by dead bodies. They are confronted by the Uncanny Avengers. Havok asks Cable to explain the situation to which he answers that he can't and then teleports away with the others.
A few days before all of that happens, Cable spied on Hope while she talks to a woman about what she doesn't like about her new "normal" life. He then meets with Forge in a bunker under an aviation graveyard. Forge gives him a new technologic, weaponized arm. He then shortly suffers from headaches and goes on to visit someone.
While on a mission to find someone in a secret base, Domino is surprised by Hope who wants to find her father and make a deal with Domino.
After recruiting Doctor Nemesis, Cable takes him to his secret base, where he is confronted by a furious Hope. She screams at him for not having contacted but instead spied on her, but then he tells her that he missed her too and they hug. Right after they let go Cable has another headache and then Hope touches him, she has the same vision that he does. Later, down in the bunker, as the rest of the team talks about Cables condition, they see his vision in the news.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
Until Amazing Houston I have to say Jose Fernandez was one of the best artists I had never heard of. I spent the entire show walking by Jose from one place to another gaining signatures for so many others and then my wife force me to slow down and take in everything. If it wasn’t for her I might never have taken a chance on a sketch cover by Jose. Gotta say this one for the price was a gamble that paid off in spades. Add in the colors by my good friend and colorist Jeff Balke and I gotta say I am a proud owner of this one. Absolutely amazing.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
To date this one was something that was completely off the wall different and unique to request. Art by Ken Christiansen, with his amount of awesomeness on Transformers in mind I thought that only he could deliver on this Cable Prime request and he truly didn’t let me down. Something about Cable as a tank really made this come out and adding the silver top with Cable’s signature eye really leaves me keeping this one up in the man cave.

I first met Paolo at Capital City Comic Con last year and have to say he has been absolutely amazing. The amount of detail he puts into his art fascinated me and it was his Hellboy print/commission that started me on the path to getting my own. Completed at Alamo City Comic Con gotta say he truly went all out on this commission. Although the email address and other little stuff he added was certainly…… different.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
Probably the worst sketch cover of Cable but I had to go for it. It’s an extremely loose version of Cable and hopefully I can get him to either fix it or have him do this one over. Normally I’m not big on discussing my total like or dislike but this one isn’t exactly hard to see. Maybe I can get him to change something about this one…?

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
I got this one back at Amazing Arizona and I have to say its been a dream come true and an absolute honor to gain a sketch cover from the man who created him. While I see everyone else with the exact same look over and over I had to go with a slightly different rendition. I was always more partial to the half robotic Cable especially after having grown up with the movie The Terminator. I guess in a way I always saw Cable as a rendition of Terminator and Total Recall with touches of Clint Eastwood.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
I had been looking for a Sayger commission for quite some time and this one was supposed to be the original one I received. Instead he decided to scrap this one for another due to a belief that one cover wasn’t good enough. After some pleading, begging, and coaxing he decided to go ahead and finish this one as well. Gotta say that even today I still don’t know which one I like more. I guess in my eyes you can never go wrong with a Cable cover. One thing though was kind of funny with this one is on the interior pages Stuart decided to make some adjustments to a page that he didn’t exactly like going a specific way. Even left a personal message to a grader which both I and my witness found a little comical.

So in total there are 41 of these that have been graded to this day with 5 Universal 9.8 blue labels which confuses the crap out of me on why anyone would ever want a blue label blank cover, 23 that have been sketched and or signed upon as 9.8SS with this one being one of them, 10 sketched and graded 9.6, 2 graded as 9.4SS and 1 graded out at the lowly grade of 8.0SS which happens to be one of mine as well
Story Title: “Let It Bleed”
MY TYPE OF SUMMARY:
Six months has passed, Elizabeth Braddock aka Psylocke mysteriously return back to the Jean Grey School. Outside Los Angeles, Psylocke was flying in a convertible car with Storm. Betsy tells her about X-Force, while Storm assures she doesn't want Psylocke to fall into destructive habits again. They both share a brief conversation about their past. Storm specifically ask about what happen to her with Fantomex.
Psylocke clearly states that she doesn't want to talk about it.
This led Betsy to remember her attempt to teach at the school didn't really work so out well. She tried to attack Quentin Quire for misuse of his power. Psylocke later had a meeting with Wolverine discussing about her actions. Logan had told her that she was impossible to work with having to change her class assignment for the third time.
Due to her actions, Wolverine had to dismiss her. He tries to give Betsy some advise about reviving X-Force. Even thought Wolverine is a respectable headmaster, he can't be giving mission therefore he has to put it behind him. He later told Psylocke to read her email, where she and Storm were tasked on a mission.
While entering the air space of Los Angeles, S.H.I.E.L.D West Coast Command claims that they are unidentified or unregistered technology without proper permission from the Avenger. The organization wants them to identify themselves or prepare to be taken down immediately. After the brief message, Psylocke states a negative comment about the Avengers, while Storm provide some cover using the cloud.
Meanwhile, Storm’s mind is also not in a right place since she’s working out her anger over her failed marriage with T'Challa also known as the Black Panther.
Psylocke tells Storm about an e-mail she received from Puck warning about a drug dealer selling TAO, a drug that makes people susceptible to a hive mind mentality.
Psylocke and Storm meet Puck at a bar, and he leads them to an old bank from the 20’s that the drug dealer – the diva of downtown LA - uses to sell drugs and dance. Storm and Psylocke quickly realized it’s Spiral. Betsy doesn't hold back as she attacks her.
Meanwhile, Storm and Puck head to the bank vault, since it is where Spiral hides her things. Ororo and Puck find a scared little girl inside the vault, who is upset Psylocke is fighting Spiral. The little girl mentally orders the people at the club to attack then Betsy.
Elsewhere in Los Angeles, Bishop finally manages to make his way back to Earth 616.
In Paris, Jean-Philipe and Cluster were stealing together, and ended up kissing each other.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
This one is a two artist collaboration. Drawn and inked by the Master Zombie Arthur Suydam the sketch alone was absolutely amazing. A version of the 90’s Cable in the Marvel Zombie homage. What really breathed life though into this sketch was Jeff Balke’s colors. Some how he really did an amazing job on a cover that I thought was actually impossible to assist following the heavy amount of inking done on this one. Afterwards I had this signed by interior artist Salvador Larroca all of which was done at Wizard World St. Louis this past spring.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
This one was one of the sketch covers done at Wizard World St. Louis early March of 2014. While this show was a little slow, getting a sketch cover done by John Tyler Christopher was certainly a highlight. His take on the 90’s younger version of Cable… Maybe this one needs a little color to assist with that eye…

So K How Many Are There???
Quite a few of these out there graded. In total there are 192 graded with 129 of those being 9.8 quality. Of those 9.8, 117 total were SS 1 was Qualified, and 11 were simply graded blue. While the grade was a little low on this one its still a Cable book and one that isn’t leaving the collection any time soon.
SUMMARY:
Two tourists stand at the feet of the Dreaming Celestial. A man reads some things from a pamphlet about San Francisco with the company of a woman. Suddenly, Mr. Sinister appears and kills the woman. The man begs for his life, but Sinister kills him anyway, saying that he is only human. He then disappears through a portal.
During the next day at Utopia, Scott and Emma attend to a meeting with Magneto, Danger, Colossus, Magik, Storm and Namor. As they take seats, Danger informs Colossus that Doctor Nemesis reinforced his chair in case his other self should make an appearance. Scott says that despite the schism with the Westchester school, their overall situation has not changed and mutant prejudice is still a major issue. Scott has chosen them to be his "Extinction Team" so that they can prove that mutants are necessary for humanity's survival. Storm expresses skepticism at the idea, but Scott replies that the team must do their best to remain the good guys.
During week one, the diverse X-Teams continue their usual activities.
In week two, Scott and Emma receive an emergency call from Abigail Brand and attend to the Peak. Brand tells them that the Dreaming Celestial's energy signature has radically changed and the X-Men have to investigate. She also says that she was going to contact the Avengers next, but Cyclops tells her not to, saying that they are not prepared for that kind of emergencies.
Extinction Team is teleported by Magik to the Dreaming Celestial, and suddenly, the Celestial's head separates from its body, taking the form of Sinister's head. Emma telepathically connects Scott's mind to that of Sinister. Scott asks Sinister what he wants, and Sinister replies that he wants the same as Scott. Then, the Celestial head releases an energy blast from its diamond at Emma, however, Emma changes into her diamond form to protect herself.
Then, Emma calls Namor for help, and Namor swiftly brings the head down. Suddenly, a swarm of battle-bots appears and attacks the X-Men. One robot blasts Colossus to another part of the city, while another blows Emma's arm off. Cyclops tells Hope to mimic Emma's telepathy to communicate a message. Cyclops tells Magik to help Colossus and the reserves to contain the robots.
Magik reaches Colossus, who transforms into the Juggernaut. Colossus uses one of Magik's portals to return to the battle.
Doctor Nemesis tells the X-Men that the Celestial is dividing itself in micro-Celestials because it lacks an electro-magnetic structure. Magneto uses his powers to stabilize the Celestial and maintain its natural state. Danger locates the Celestial's head in the Palace of Fine Arts.
There, Sinister has used the head to transform everyone in the city into duplicates of him.

Cable, Domino, Doctor Nemesis and Colossus are in a partly destroyed factory, surrounded by dead bodies. They are confronted by the Uncanny Avengers. Havok asks Cable to explain the situation to which he answers that he can't adn then teleports away with the others.
A few days before all of that happens, Cable spied on Hope while she talks to a woman about what seh doesn't like about her new "normal" life.
She screams at him for not having contacted but insteatd spied on her, but then he tells her that he missed her too and they hug. Right after they let go Cable has another headache and then Hope touches him, she has the same vision that he does. Later, down in the bunker, as the rest of the team talks about Cables condition, they see his vision in the news.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
This one was simply done off a single finished example by Ace for Glynn Adkins at Capital City Comic Con. Just happened to see a Breaking Bad cover featuring a little meth and a lot of cash and some how I saw it and was immediately sold on a new commission.
Asked him for something EPIC and Ace certainly didn't let me done. Although I did threaten to assist his limp on his right by evening out the left leg if he messed this up.... joking.... but not really. Anyways since this commission I have been extremely fortunate to continue to have a great relationship with an amazing artist. I honestly think that this is what its all about.

I have to say this is probably the most sketched upon blank out there. In total there are 1461 total graded with amazingly 2 Gem Mint’s SS, 917 9.8’s, 365 of these have been graded out at 9.6 with 353 earning the SS preceding the 9.6. There really are a ton of these out there but the big reasoning behind it was that these had a better stock of paper quality.
Story Title: Prologue – “Curse of the Mutants, Part 1”
MY TYPE OF SUMMARY:
Ok, so a very Goth guy who looks like a jacked version of Pulp Fictions Gimp decides to take a walk and get some air. Cause the closed zipper for a mouth seems to be the perfect walking attire. Cut to Pixie have a little pity lunch with Jubilee cause she’s now normal.
Goth boy decides it’s party time and decides to do his best impression of Party Boy only to find out he is severely allergic to the sun. Boom goes the Vampire and being the horrible date that he is decides not to tell the girl when he’s about to shoot off.
Jubilee gets Vamp juice in her mouth. Oh no, so she goes back to the X-Men tells them whats going down and Wolverine goes “Snikt” on some vampires for a little while. Some other random lady apparently also got Vamp juice in her mouth as well and now I think she’s in heat for a hickie or something. PERSONAL COMMENTS:
A true grail for me. I have seen some amazing art by Stuart Sayger over the years. Every commission seems to be even better than the one before. Something about his style of grit and darkness just exemplified everything that I wanted in this commission and everything I got in it. This one was a twofer that I got simply because Stuart is a true perfectionist. The original commission he believed he had messed up in some way and it was this one he decided to do in an almost apologetic manner. Gotta say I love them both and made sure that I even employed my secret weapon on that one, the wife.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
While I was deployed one of my favorite websites to check out was always comicvine. I would shoot over every Sunday... Saturday for you in the U.S. and check out the weeks best art you will never see in a comic section. Here I would find idea after idea of what I wanted for commissions but one always stuck out in my mind. Artist extraordinaire Todd Nauck. Something about his happy go lucky style of art always brought a smile to my face and a sense of jealousy at the same time. I always saw him doing commissions of this character or that but never one of my main man Cable. There was something about this missing commission that left me wanting to know what he would do and when I finally had the opportunity at Fan Days Dallas I jumped for it.
It was fun actually talking to an artist for awhile and something about his excitement to do not just Cable but a ode to the old school version made me smile. Everyone always seems to do the newer aged versions of him. Kind of a take on the 2000's and up version but no one seems to remember him as the old grandpa with the receding hair line. It was Todd's idea though to jump back in time and honestly glad he did. Haven't seen this version of Cable done on a commission in a while and the way he drew him really lined up with how I envisioned it. Gotta say this was one commission I was truly happy to get in on.

This one came from another fellow boardie who was gracious enough to let this one go at a fair enough price. Gotta say the choice of the Grandparents… Cyclops and Jean added with the son Cable, and his daughter Hope was an amazing choice by Adonis and looks even more amazing in my home where it shall stay come hell or high water.

Art by Seth Mann, know to be the brother of Clay, this one honestly is pretty damn amazing to me. To me its amazing to see these two in that gritty style of art as it really is the way I envision them while trudging around in the hopeless future of a world destroyed. Cannot say enough good things about Doug, nor his opps, or sales. Everything that man touches is amazing. Doug, you are a gentleman and a scholar…

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
This one is awesome and yet shows the love for the art and not the grade. While I will continue to submit commissioned art for this sketch variant slot for that coveted 9.8 SS sketch by someone amazing I am really excited to finally get this one in hand.
For starters the artist, Danny Cruz is by far one of the most talented detail oriented artists I have ever seen. A simple search of his CAF uploads or even on his deviantart page would show numerous covers he’s done for others and quite honestly for the price he is a can’t miss. As for this copy this is one of 5 connecting covers which span this issue, Cable and X-Force, Uncanny X-Force, Uncanny X-Men, and X-Men, with characters from each of the corresponding issues from Marvel Nows relaunch.
As for the grade I completely understand why it went from a 9.8 possible cover sent in the mail to receiving an 8.0 grade upon receival. While all of the corners are sharp, great spine, and a flawless interior the notes specifically denote the deduction for the quite large size white-out spill and ink spills as shown on the back cover image. Truly a shame but yet understandable. Again this is why when I purchased this set I was truly more worried about the art that Cruz could put out rather than the actual condition received in. I will have to find a way to be able to get all of the interconnecting covers and show case what the entire set looks like interlinked with one another.

Going simply with the sketch variant this one is an OAK…. Yeah not really the OAK many look for but at 8.0 this is the sole one out there. As for total with sketch variants there are a total of 61 of these Blank Variants graded with 55 of them having some type of signature or something or other on them. Oddly enough and I still don’t and probably never will understand this, there are currently 6 Plain Jane ones out there.
Story Title: “What Happens Now?”
MY TYPE OF SUMMARY:
I’ll wait until I get a first printing of this one before I post a full on summary of what happens here. Basic gist, never listen to Iceman’s idea Beast. He’s basically a jacked Frosty the Snow Man without the magic hat.

PERSONAL COMMENTS:
The first time I met local artist Ben Bender was at Fan Expo Dallas 2014. I happened upon him while doing some down and back's gaining signatures for everyone as a witness and while I wanted to stop and breath for a moment and set up a commission I was never successful. Fast forward to Comicpolooza two weeks later in Houston and again I see Ben setting up his booth on a very lazy Thursday opening.
So finally having my chance and with no reason not to I commissioned him for what was my normal go to Cable. A few hours later and bam this came out. The poor man's Skottie Young built up a great children's take on Cable vs a Sentinel.

So kind of odd for me in looking this one up. I originally figured "oh, its a sketch cover there should be plenty." But no, not in the slightest. This one in total has 13 graded, with 11 9.8's of which 9 were 9.8SS, 1 9.4SS, and 1 9.2SS. Just didn't make sense as the cover quality is amazing on this one for sketches and I actually kind of like how the Original Sin title was created in almost framing it.
