The June 1954 issue of Reader’s Digest contained the article “For the Kiddies to Read” written by anti-comics crusader T.E. Murphy. Murphy was a columnist and editorial writer for the Hartford, Connecticut Courant and spearheaded an anti-comics campaign in the Hartford community. His Reader’s Digest piece provided examples of comic he found to be objectionable.
