Glory to the greatest villain, he who rises above the rest with such ease!
Rather than being an exhaustive set of all his appearances, this set focuses on appreciating the comics in which he had solo top cover & story billing. His are the covers that I love more than most, as they often feature amazing perspective to showcase the great heights Stilt-Man can achieve. While other characters have been depicted flying high on covers before, it is with Stilt-Man's dynamic covers that there is a greater sense of vertigo - as the parties involved often cannot fly at all, making the entire scene have a far greater sense of danger to it.
There are many other great Stilt-Man stories that did not make this set which I recommend checking out, notably Daredevil #186. This issue has Stilt-Man being robbed of his armour by another thug, and then helping Daredevil take down the imposter. While it is a great story that showed us that not just anyone can be the Stilt-Man, he was not featured on the cover and as such it did not fit the scope of this set.
Though I focused on his classic Silver & Bronze appearances, I did feel it necessary to include Stilt-Man's best Modern appearance; 2011's Daredevil #22. Besides giving us a great unique acrophobia inducing cover from a point of view rarely seen from, it also gave us the quintessential reaction every stilt-fan will find themselves uttering at one point or another: Thank God for Stilt-Man.
Set Goals
I'm aiming to collect all these classic Stilt-Man issues in Near Mint (9.2) condition or better, as Stilt-Man deserves grades almost as high as he is - and make no mistake, he's a 10!
