Ok, so Carrion is one of those characters you really gotta dig into. Start by jumping 120 issues backwards and take a look at one of the earliest long stories told in the title. We learn that a cloned Miles Warren was ticked off at Spidey and blamed him for the death of Gwen - but that clone died. This is someone totally different! The why's and details you can look up, but pretty much a dude named Malcom McBride get a hold of a formula and turned him into this new Carrion, and WHAM! Spidey's got a new / old baddie to fight!
Some of what happens to him is retconned as the clone wars dragged on. Leaving all of that aside, we've got Gerry Conway and Sal Buscema making some magic so jump on board and take in the 1st appearance of a new villain!
