Move along folks, nothing to see here. It's not like this is the book that both saved and launched a comic empire...oh wait, it is! From a flagging title stuck in reprints, to legend status.
Lost in all the hype over what this issue represents is that its a great story as well. The "old" team goes out for some recon, and some crazy ass island gathers them up for dinner, letting only Cyclops escape to tell the tale (and attract more mutants). So what does the ever crafty Len Wein do? Why assemble a "new" team of course! Complete with the newly introduced...the ONE...the ONLY...Wolverine! Lame ass PC alleged Wolverine characters do not qualify.
Ass whoopings ensue, new saves old, and everyone parties as they try to figure out what to do with so many X-Men.
Having my sights set on acquiring a copy for a long time, I finally took the plunge while browsing through the October Pedigree Comics Grand Auction. With no real intent on bidding. And then a few zeroes later...voila!
