Magneto returns, and he brought his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants with him! Pretty sure with that name this organization won't be mistaken for a 501(c)3 non-profit.
As I keep alluding to in many of my early X-Men book postings, signature placement has proven to be paramount on these books. Many of the early covers have so much going on that a signature can actually prove to be a detriment if it's splattered across a key area. Imagine if the "Stan Lee" on this book was about 1.5 inches to the left...suddenly, Magneto no longer has a face!
So even though I dropped the facade of not being inclined to buy books graded this high due to their associated cost, this one actually does fall into that same line of thinking because amidst all the furor of C2E2 2016 I had told my budget to shut up and go sit in the corner. So I figured I'd be out of the higher dollar comic market for a while...until Citibank ran a sweet 6 month APR promo. Suddenly I could finance a few things for basically nothing. So here we are!
Anyway, this first appearance of the aptly named Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, featuring the first appearance of future Avengers/X-Men Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver amongst their ranks, was signed on 1/29/2012 by Stan Lee.

So I'm not normally inclined to shell out for Silver Age issues graded this high, but...
Yeah I know I keep saying it, and yet I still keep buying them. It is what it is.
Anyway...X-Men 7! With the return of The Blob, and Magneto, and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants! With such an action packed cover, where oh where could Stan possibly place his signature? Why in the perfect spot below Cyclops' feet of course.
Once I saw this one, there was no way I could let it go. Absolutely perfect signature placement and covers with their wear and tear limited to the edges made this one a must have. It was signed on 10/25/2014 by the aforementioned Stan The Man Lee.
Big thanks go out to eBay seller highgrademagic-pristinecomics for this one!

The first meeting of the X-Men and the Avengers. From the looks of things, they aren't sharing a meal of shwarma at this particular juncture...

The Human Torch (the original, not Johnny Storm if I remember correctly) drops by to help the X-Men wrap up their business with The Juggernaut.
With one eye on completing my 1-19 run signed by Stan Lee, I ran across an auction for both X-Men 12 and 13 early on in 2015 and wound up winning it for $100. I obviously held onto 13, but didn't bother with 12 as it was in pretty rough shape and not worth having graded. So I turned around and sold it, all flaws clearly detailed...for $102.50. So 13 turned out to be free, score!
If not for the spine, this book would likely have graded several points higher. The colors remain vibrant, and aside from the spine, creasing is rather minimal. A great add for sure.
To top it off, writer/legend/The Man Stan Lee signed this book, on the Torch's fireball for emphasis, at C2E2 in April 2015. While the label may say 8/1/2015, I was at C2E2 when this book came back from Stan's hands. In the Comics to Astonish booth. Looking over Keegan's shoulder, directly at this very same X-Men 13.

Among us stalk...the Sentinels! So begins our introduction to one of the X-Men and mutantkind's longest standing enemies.
As WW Chicago was fast approaching, and already with a plan to put together a nice mini-run of Signature Series reprint era issues, I decided to expand said plan and also put together a run of 14-16. Why? Two reasons -- 1. Naturally, because its the Sentinels!, and 2. Both Stan Lee and Patrick Stewart were appearing at the show. With the DoFP movie about to come out, I could land signatures from both the writer of this issue and the man who plays Professor Xavier on the big screen.
Unfortunately it wouldn't work out quite as I hoped, as timing issues prevented me from landing both signatures. But most important, the book was signed by Stan Lee on 8/23/2014.
For a book that has such minor creasing, I'm surprised it only came in at a 5.0. But I would surmise that the moderate tanning to the covers played a role in that grade.

The Sentinels! Part 2! Featuring Master Mold!
I grabbed this one off of eBay while WW Chicago was quickly approaching. It came advertised as a solid Fine, I agreed that it was a solid Fine, had it signed by (the man, the myth, the legend, and the writer) Stan Lee on 8/23/2014, pressed, and voila! It's an SS 6.5, or Fine+ for those of you who prefer words.
I was also hoping to have Patrick Stewart sign this book as well, but the timing unfortunately didn't work out since a few other people also wanted Stan's signature at the show.

The first storyline to feature the Sentinels concludes. An important piece of both comic history and my own personal journey through the Marvel Universe as the Sentinels played such a huge part in the X-Men animated series from the 1990s.
Something about this particular book kept calling to me. I've owned it for over a decade, and while I was paring down my ungraded Silver Age X-Men collection, something just wouldn't let me sell this book. Not only due to the Sentinel connection, but also because every time I handled it I kept saying "This looks like a 4.5 to me, but damn is it a solid book." As WW Chicago 2014 approached, I finally told myself I was going to complete an X-Men 14-16 Signature Series run, and this one would be included.
Once again, CGC showed me that I generally suck at accurately grading Silver Age books. After a Signature from the man himself, Stan Lee, on 8/23/2014, and a pressing, I now have a nice mid-grade SS 6.0 copy.

Banshee!!
Yes indeed, it is the first appearance of Sean Cassidy, better known to us as the Banshee. I originally picked this book up during one of my mini-shopping excursions during C2E2 2015, and once I had looked it over I didn't even try to haggle down the $50 asking price.
I left the book in capable hands, and after being signed by writer Roy Thomas on 6/26/2015 at Heroes Con, here it is as an SS 7.0. Which now that I think about it, Heroes Con was over on June 21...since all my other Roy Thomas books from the show say 6/20/15, we'll chalk it up as a typo.
